SOUTH FORK CANYON, Utah (AP) - A 77-year-old American Fork man has been killed in a fiery crash that shut down part of U.S. Highway 6 near the mouth of the Spanish Fork Canyon.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce says Court Anderson was driving a pickup truck Tuesday when he apparently allowed it to drift across the yellow line near milepost 179 in an area known as Covered Bridge.

He says the truck collided nearly head-on with a semi-trailer truck, which burst into flames.

Royce says Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. He says emergency crews quickly extinguished the flames but traffic was rerouted through Nephi Canyon until the highway was fully reopened about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
