WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Forsyth County say a Rural Hall woman is accused of embezzling more than $278,000 from the funeral home where she worked.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports (https://bit.ly/2ewuRmT ) the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that 57-year-old Teresa Ashley Marion of Rural Hall is charged with embezzlement by an employee and accessing a computer to defraud or obtain property.

A statement from the sheriff’s office said deputies responded on March 25 to reports of the thefts from Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Authorities say Marion took $278,666.

Investigators arrested Marion on Sept. 30. She posted $50,000 bail and was released with a court date of Dec. 8. It’s not known if she has an attorney.
