SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Officials say two people have been killed and another injured in a house fire in Sarasota.

Local news outlets report that firefighters were called to the scene Wednesday afternoon after a neighbor reported flames coming from a home across the street.

Arriving crews encountered a heavy fire that had burned through the roof on one side of the home.

Firefighters say an adult male was rescued from the home, but two other adults died inside.

Sarasota County Fire Chief Michael Regnier says crews had to break through a concrete wall to rescue the injured victim, who was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

Fire investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the fire. The victims’ identities weren’t immediately released.
