WASHINGTON (AP) - An armed security guard was robbed of his firearm while working at a library in Washington.

Metropolitan police tell local media the robbery happened at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the Dorothy I. Height-Benning Library. The library had closed at 9 p.m.

The Washington Post reports (https://wapo.st/2f01iqG) the security guard was walking to his vehicle behind the library when he was approached from behind by a man holding a dark metal object to his head. According to the offense report, the man said, “This is a gun.”

He then told the guard to get on the ground and stole some of the guard’s equipment, including his weapon, before fleeing.

The guard wasn’t hurt in the incident.

Further details haven’t been released.
