GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - AT&T; is closing a call center in Goldsboro, citing flood damage from Hurricane Matthew and falling demand for its DSL service.

AT&T; said in a letter that the call center’s 95 employees, including 78 customer assistants, will be offered jobs elsewhere, including three locations in North Carolina. Those who chose not to move will be offered a severance package.

The company disclosed the plans for a January shutdown in a notice sent Tuesday to the North Carolina Commerce Department.

The Goldsboro facility once employed 400 people and was part of an effort to return jobs to America from foreign countries.

The facility has been unusable because of the flooding earlier this month. AT&T; spokesman Marty Richter said the employees have been receiving pay and benefits despite the shutdown
