SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Baseball fans in central Illinois can watch a historic World Series game on the lawn of the Old State Capitol in Springfield.

The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency is planning a “History in the Making” viewing party for Saturday’s game between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. They say it’s “the next best thing to being at Wrigley Field.”

The game will be broadcast on a 15-by-20-foot screen on the south lawn of the building, which served as the seat of Illinois government from 1839 to 1876.

The event also will include games for kids and entertainment.

The Cubs are playing in their first World Series at Wrigley Field since 1945.
