CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) - Police have charged a 42-year-old Mason City woman with theft, accusing her of stealing more than $50,000 while employed as the office manager of a Clear Lake auto dealership.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/2dPU0tD ) that Amy Monahan turned herself in Friday on felony charges of ongoing criminal conduct, first-degree theft and forgery.

The charges conclude a seven-month investigation into reports of misconduct while Monahan was working for Lake Chevrolet from 2013 through 2016.

Police Chief Pete Roth says investigators determined Monahan misappropriated more than $50,000 in fund during a two-year period of her employment. Police say she forged checks and took other funds to pay personal credit cards.

She remained jailed Saturday and could not be reached for comment.
