ALBURNETT, Iowa (AP) - An eastern Iowa man has died after a freight train hit the pickup truck he was driving near the Linn County city of Alburnett.

KCRG-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2cXRijB ) the crash happened Sunday afternoon when a man drove a pickup towing a flatbed trailer into the path of a Canadian National freight train, south of Alburnett. The truck then caught fire.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office say the driver died at the scene of the crash. His name wasn’t released, but he was described as a 44-year-old man from Marion.

The train crew wasn’t injured.
