BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) - A New York City man charged in a fatal shooting in Biddeford has been ordered held without bail.

Twenty-year-old Timothy Ortiz of Brooklyn made his first court appearance Monday after being charged with murder. He did not enter a plea.

Police say Ortiz killed 30-year-old Jonathan Methot of Biddeford a week ago.

Police say Ortiz was taken into custody the same day on a New York probation violation that was unrelated to the shooting. He was charged with murder on Friday when he appeared in court on the probation violation.

Defense lawyer Jon Gale said he wanted to review the facts of the case before arguing for bail.
