SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Police say someone streamed more than an hour of a 10-hour police standoff on Facebook, though the incident in northeastern Pennsylvania ended peacefully.

Scranton police have yet to release the name of the man who held police at bay starting about 2 a.m. Sunday. That happened after the man reportedly hurt himself then called his ex-girlfriend, threatening to kill her and her two children.

Police say the man threatened suicide and had numerous weapons, but was persuaded to surrender. The man didn’t end up hurting himself or anyone else, but police say the social media streaming complicated an already tense situation.

Police say they can ask people to stop live streaming such events, but cannot force them to stop.

The standoff suspect remained in custody Monday pending a psychological evaluation.
