RANDOLPH, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a volunteer firefighter has been cited for setting fire to his East Randolph home.

Authorities say 30-year-old Jason Gregoire confessed to setting the fire in early September so he and his family could move to New York, where he said they could get better services for their autistic son.

No one was injured.

Police say no insurance claim was made and no other property was destroyed during the fire.

They say Gregoire was cited for reckless endangerment for recklessly placing the lives of fellow firefighters in danger.

Gregoire did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment. It’s unknown if he’s being represented by an attorney.
