HITCHCOCK, Texas (AP) - At least one person has been killed in the crash of a small plane in a field near the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the town of Hitchcock, about 17 miles west of Galveston. The Federal Aviation Administration reports the crash involved a twin-engine Beechcraft aircraft with two people aboard. One of the occupants called 911, reported the aircraft was down and that emergency help was needed.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says one person was killed in the crash. The other occupant was extracted from the wreckage, but there was no immediate word on that person’s condition.

No other details were available late Tuesday.
