NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard has airlifted a man from a cruise ship off the coast of Southwest Pass.

The U.S. Coast Guard said in a news release Wednesday that the Coast Guard Sector New Orleans medevaced the 84-year-old man, who was suffering heart-attack-like symptoms, after receiving a request from the cruise ship Carnival Triumph.

The crew transported the man to Air Station New Orleans where they were met by emergency medical services. He was then transported to West Jefferson Medical Center.
