MADRID (AP) - Two players from Spanish club Eibar have apologized for an online video in which they appear having sex with a woman, saying they lament that it could hurt the club’s image.

Sergi Enrich and former Aston Villa defender Antonio Luna released a joint statement on Twitter saying that they were not responsible for leaking the video of a “private act involving fully consenting adults.”

Eibar, in eighth place in the Spanish league, did not comment on the case but confirmed Thursday that the statement was released by its players.

The statement, signed by both players, said they “hope this incident won’t degrade the image of the club or of our teammates.”

They said they are sorry if the video “offended our fans and the city of Eibar in general.”
