KEARNS, Utah (AP) - A man has been seriously injured after being shot by a Unified Police Officer during a chase in Kearns.

Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder says the shooting occurred Wednesday after a man believed to be wanted on a felony domestic violence warrant fled from officers.

Winder says it appeared the man who was shot did not have a weapon.

The officer was not wearing a body camera. The Unified Police Department is receiving some body cameras soon through a federal grant, but officers are not yet equipped.

The Salt Lake Police Department is investigating the shooting.
