Jennifer Aniston remarked to a friend that it was “karma” that ex-husband Brad Pitt should be dumped by wife of two years Angelina Jolie, said Hollywood gossip magazine Us Weekly on its website on Wednesday.

Ms. Aniston’s five-year marriage to Mr. Pitt dissolved in 2005 after the latter began an affair with “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-star Jolie. Mr. Pitt and Ms. Jolie wed in August 2014, years after the leading man insisted they were waiting for same-sex marriage to be a legal reality everywhere in the United States.

“She always got the sense that something would happen with them eventually,” Us quoted an anonymous source close to Ms. Aniston. “She didn’t feel that Angelina was truly the one who Brad was meant to stay with. She always felt that Angelina was too complex for him. He’s a pretty simple guy.”

A second anonymous source stressed to Us Weekly that by no means should we think Ms. Aniston is gloating in the demise of Brangelina.

She “never wanted this for them or wished this on them,” said the source.

Regardless of how Ms. Aniston truly feels about the situation, social media wags have amused themselves with various animated GIFs involving the “Friends” alumna, and the New York Post even had a little fun with their Sept. 21 front page, showing a laughing Ms. Aniston and the caption, “Brangelina 2004-2016.”
