WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A former Pennsylvania high school principal accused of lying about his knowledge of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a 16-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to child endangerment under a plea deal.
The (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens’ Voice reports (https://bit.ly/2cHoc87 ) Frank Michaels pleaded guilty on Monday. He faces up to seven years in prison at his November sentencing.
Michaels testified that he wasn’t aware of rumors that former Coughlin High administrator Stephen Stahl had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 school years.
Stahl was convicted last year of corruption of minors and sentenced to prison.
Prosecutors say several witnesses said Michaels had reason to suspect there was an inappropriate relationship.
Michaels, who won re-election as a Democratic Forty Fort councilman last year, declined to comment.
