ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a 25-year-old Alexandria man faces two preliminary drunken driving charges after driving his car into a natural gas line and a house, sparking a fire and injuring himself, his wife, and two children.

Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger tells The (Anderson) Herald Bulletin (https://bit.ly/2p2L1K7 ) that Cody Vaughn also faces preliminarily charges of driving while suspended and a probation violation.

He says Vaughn was arrested in Anderson Monday after leaving a hospital without being discharged. Mellinger says Vaughn was scheduled for additional medical procedures.

The crash Thursday night in Alexandria left Vaughn a collapsed lung and other injuries. His wife, Anna Vaughn, suffered a broken hip. Their children, ages 2 and 4, suffered head injuries.

It’s unclear whether Vaughn has an attorney. He doesn’t have a published telephone number.
