CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming woman has acknowledged stealing more than $48,000 from an 89-year-old man with dementia.

The Casper Star-Tribune reported Tuesday (https://goo.gl/ClzEKz ) that Tamara Voelker pleaded guilty to one count of exploiting a vulnerable adult. She faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Prosecutors say Voelker, of Casper, befriended the man and became his caregiver after his wife died. Voelker is accused of using his money to pay for her rent and utilities, as well as charging items to his credit cards without his knowledge from January 2015 through last spring.

She pleaded guilty in 2014 to stealing prescription morphine from a patient while she worked at Drug Testing Lab. According to police records, she reported the elderly man’s medicine stolen or lost at least four times.
