BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say they are continuing to investigate what caused an inmate to collapse inside a jail cell and suffer a medical emergency hours after she was arrested.

Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said the woman, who collapsed Sunday after her arrest on a failure to appear warrant from Calvert County, is still in critical condition. Davis said officers took the woman to her home, about a block from the arrest site, for about 30 minutes, where a family member braided her hair before she was transported to a station house in a wagon.

Davis said the woman, whose identity has not been released, was watched the whole time she was inside her home. He says drug paraphernalia was found on her at the time of her arrest, but no drugs.
