INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (AP) - A married northeastern man and woman have been sentenced for setting fire to their home in Independence in 2014.

Authorities say 32-year-old Brandon Wayne Dorsey and 28-year-old Jessi Karri Dorsey were sentenced Tuesday in Buchanan County District Court. Both had pleaded guilty earlier to second-degree arson. Their 10-year prison sentences were suspended and both were given probation. They also were ordered to repay more than $42,000 to victims -including local churches, individuals and a bank - that gave them monetary donations following the fire.

Prosecutors say the Dorseys also received many donations of items, gift cards and assistance from the American Red Cross for which restitution could not be ascertained.
