Nearby residents called authorities after seeing the water truck using hydrants in the community.

Placer County Sheriff’s deputies then noticed two trucks with the same license plate entering and exiting, which raised suspicion and led to the discoveries.

Deputies say all seven vehicles went missing in the last year.

No arrests have been made.
