President Trump is wading into the special congressional election being held in Georgia on Tuesday, saying on Twitter Monday that the “super Liberal Democrat” in the race wants to raise taxes.

“The super Liberal Democrat in the Georgia Congressioal [sic] race tomorrow wants to protect criminals, allow illegal immigration and raise taxes!” the president tweeted.

Voters head to the polls on Tuesday to vote for candidates vying to fill the seat of former GOP Rep. and current Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.

Mr. Trump was apparently referring to Democrat Jon Ossoff.

A candidate has to get more than 50 percent of the vote to avoid a June runoff, and recent polling has shown Mr. Ossoff out in front but falling short of the 50 percent mark, with GOP support divided among a handful of Republicans.
