FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - An escaped Lauderdale County inmate has turned himself in, peacefully ending a 10-hour standoff.

AL.com reports (https://bit.ly/2ponfZg ) 43-year-old Christopher Wayne Kilpatrick surrendered Saturday night.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton says police tracked Kilpatrick to a building near Florence, Alabama, after receiving a report that he was in the area. A sheriff’s deputy noticed a stolen pickup truck with Tennessee registration that Kilpatrick was purported to be using outside the building.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the area and officials shut down the roadways. Kilpatrick turned himself in after 10 hours.

Kilpatrick had escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center on April 7 where he was being held without bail for attempted murder of a Florence police officer.
