JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Two men face murder charges in a shooting that left a man dead and a girl wounded.

Hudson County prosecutors say Corey Pickett and Jonathan Ferrera also face attempted murder, hindering apprehension and weapons counts stemming from Sunday night’s shooting in Jersey City. It wasn’t known Monday if either man has retained an attorney.

Authorities say police officers who happened to be in the area witnessed the shooting and soon captured the two Jersey City men after a foot chase.

Nineteen-year-old Jersey City resident Jimmy Gregory was shot in the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 10-year-old East Orange girl, who was sitting in a vehicle, was struck in the torso. She remained hospitalized Monday in stable condition.

A motive for the shooting hasn’t been disclosed.
