HOUSTON (AP) - Investigators say a convicted gang member on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list who fled from an Austin-area halfway house has been caught near Houston.

The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday announced the arrest of 58-year-old Billy Wayne Gilliland. Authorities say Gilliland was captured Friday at a home in Cloverleaf.

A DPS statement says a tip led to the arrest of Gilliland, who last October fled from a halfway house in Del Valle (VAL’-ee).

Records show Gilliland in the 1980s was sentenced to life in prison on a murder conviction in Liberty County. He was paroled in March 2014. His criminal history also includes escape, burglary and drug-related charges.

Authorities say the tipster will get a reward of up to $7,500.
