IRMO, S.C. (AP) - Investigators say a teen who died after being found by Columbia firefighters battling a brush fire had also been shot.
Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a news release Tuesday that deputies are investigating the teen’s death near an apartment complex in Irmo as a homicide.
Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the dead teen as 18-year-old Keon Brantley.
Authorities say firefighters found Brantley in the woods as they fought a fire Saturday. Koon says the teen died as paramedics were treating him for the bullet wound and burns in the apartment complex parking lot.
Deputies didn’t say if they have a suspect or a motive for the killing.
