BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man fatally stabbed a woman and stabbed his father before barricading himself inside a home.

Somerset County prosecutors say Michael Litwornia was captured after a SWAT team stormed the Bridgewater home around 11 p.m. Monday. They say the 27-year-old Litwornia tried to grab a sharp instrument but was quickly subdued.

Authorities say Litwornia was treated at a hospital for self-inflicted wounds. He’s charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Police responding to a 911 call found Litwonia’s 61-year-old father outside the home suffering from severe stab wounds and lacerations. He told officers his son had attacked him.

The body of a 61-year-old woman was found moments later. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Litwornia’s father underwent surgery and remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition.
