GONZALES, La. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a Prairieville man after they say he shot and killed a childhood friend in Gonzales.

Ascension Parish Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Bobby Webre tells local media that investigators are trying to determine why 27-year-old Donovan Darville shot and killed 27-year-old Clarence Harvey on Tuesday afternoon in front of his home.

Harvey’s mother, Rhona Harvey, tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/2oLUtAF) that her son and Darville were friends who had known each other since they were children.

Darville was arrested later that day and charged with second-degree murder.

Webre says authorities are still seeking 31-year-old Jerald Wall, who they say was riding with Darville in a maroon 2011 Honda Accord at the time of the shooting. He says Wall is only wanted for questioning.

It’s unclear if Darville has an attorney.
