White House press secretary Sean Spicer is the featured speaker for a fundraising event at a Trump-owned property with the Virginia Republican Party next month.

The event will be held at Trump National Golf Club, in Sterling.

This is not the first time a press secretary is fundraising for state parties or candidates.

Tony Snow, White House press secretary under George W. Bush, made the rounds for Republican candidates in 2006.

At the time, Mr. Snow acknowledged that he was in unfamiliar territory, but that he would quit raising money if it interfered with the job. He did receive criticism from those who felt his job was to relay information to reporters and feared his credibility would be damaged.

Mr. Snow had appeal among conservatives from his time at Fox News and as a conservative commentator, making him a desirable speaker for such events.
