PHOENIX (AP) - The Latest on a small child’s remains being found (all times local):

11:50 a.m.

A Phoenix police spokesman say remains of a small child found at a construction site appear to be infant-sized.

Sgt. Vince Lewis described the remains Wednesday, a day after they were found in the ground at a new home under construction in west Phoenix.

Lewis says it appears the remains were at the location for some time and that it’ll likely be a while before any identification is made.


2:25 a.m.

Police say they’re investigating the discovery of human remains found at the site of a new home under construction in west Phoenix.

Phoenix police say the remains appear to be those of a small child.

They were located in the ground at the construction site near North 87th Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say homicide detectives were called out to the scene.

They say it appears the remains have been there for some time.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
