PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Court records show that a former prosecutor will testify in the case of a murder convict who was recently bailed out of jail after a key witness in his case recanted testimony.

Pamela Ames was an assistant attorney general when Anthony Sanborn was convicted in 1992 of the murder of Jessica Briggs. Sanborn was bailed out last week when doubt was cast on his guilt.

The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/2ovHbVF ) reports Ames resisted a subpoena for nearly two weeks, but has agreed to testify. Sanborn and Briggs were 16 at the time of Briggs’ death.

The judge in the case said she’ll oversee more proceedings before deciding whether to set aside Sanborn’s conviction and call for a new trial.

Three days of hearings are scheduled for May 24 to 26.
