Southwestern Idaho police cleared in shooting of 72-year-old

KUNA, Idaho (AP) - A prosecutor has cleared three southwestern Idaho police officers who shot a 72-year-old man after he pointed a gun at them.

Boise television station KTVB (https://bit.ly/2pe4hUL ) reports the Blaine County Prosecutor’s Office concluded that Kuna Police officers Wes Bunnell, Vishal Sahni and Nolan Zorn were justified in the November 10 shooting of Edgar Hafen.

Hafan, of Melba, survived his injuries and is scheduled to stand trial in July on charges of eluding police and assault.

The shooting happened after Hafen’s relatives called emergency workers because they feared he would harm himself. Law enforcement officers attempted to pull Hafen over after they found him driving near the town of Melba, but he refused to stop.

Law enforcement officers eventually managed to stop his vehicle, but say Hafen refused to exit the car and instead pointed a handgun at the officers. The three Kuna officers opened fire, hitting him several times.
