MESA, Ariz. (AP) - A highway on the eastern outskirts of Mesa remains closed because of a wildfire that has charred an estimated 200 acres.

Tonto National Forest officials say the fire that forced the closure of the Bush Highway between Power and Usery Park roads was 10 percent contained Wednesday.

It was reported Tuesday afternoon and is burning along the Salt River and away from communities.

Authorities say the fire is being fueled by a riparian river bottom with mesquite, salt cedar and cactus.

The blaze is putting up smoke that can be seen in the eastern part of the metro Phoenix area.

Forest officials say the fire is human-caused and not threatening any structures.

The Bush Highway leads to several popular recreation sites along the Lower Salt River.
