NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Police Department says it has charged a man in the fatal shooting of a 61-year-old woman who was hit by gunfire while playing dominoes in a Manhattan park last summer.
The NYPD says 25-year-old Abraham Vah, of Queens, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in the killing of Odessa Simms.
Police say she was playing dominoes in a playground on Aug. 20 when she was hit in the neck by a stray bullet. Relatives said Simms was a mother of five and a retired teacher who often socialized in the park.
Police say Vah was gunning for someone else when he opened fire.
It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
