DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A 12-year-old boy and his stepfather have been arrested for conspiring to kill the boy’s biological grandparents.

WKYT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2p6chXG) that the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office received a call Saturday night expressing concern that the boy was planning to kill his grandparents.

Detective Donnie Moses says the boy, who lived with his grandparents, was taken into custody then and placed in a juvenile detention center. His stepfather, 38-year-old Kenneth Brown, was arrested Tuesday night.

Each has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Moses didn’t say how the pair planned to commit the killing, but said the boy told detectives Brown was the designated killer.

Moses says the decision to prosecute the child as an adult rests with the county attorney. It’s unclear if either has a lawyer.
