Authorities investigating after body found floating in bayou

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (AP) - The body of a woman found floating in a bayou near Donaldsonville has been identified.

Media outlets report Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Bobby Webre says a truck driving over a bridge between La. 308 and La. 1 spotted the body floating in Bayou Lafourche on Thursday.

The Advocate reports the Sheriff’s Office on Friday (https://bit.ly/2pqpWaf ) identified the victim as 40-year-old Nicole Jackson, of Donaldsonville.

An autopsy reveals no signs of trauma indicating foul play.

An investigation continues.
