DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - An autopsy report on a North Carolina man shot and killed by police officers in February says he suffered gunshot wounds to his upper back and lower right leg.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports (https://bit.ly/2pGP1kc) the shot that struck 24-year-old Kenneth Lee Bailey Jr. in the back pierced both his lungs and major blood vessels before lodging in his right shoulder.

A report by Durham police quoted one witness as saying he saw Bailey throw a gun down. Police had said Bailey pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers before he was shot on Feb. 15.

The officers were trying to arrest Bailey on charges he violated conditions of his release while awaiting trial on robbery and conspiracy charges.
