Rep. Dave Brat acknowledged Friday that the House’s rush on health care was partly to meet President Trump’s 100-day deadline.

Mr. Brat said on Fox News, “Coming back Monday or Tuesday is no big deal. The only big deal was we wanted to hit Trump’s 100-day thing if we could.”

The Virginia Republican said that there wasn’t a vote scheduled this week, however, so it wasn’t really a delay to resume talks next week. Mr. Brat said that the House had too many scheduling conflicts with members traveling back to their districts over the weekend to try and push a vote before Saturday.

He did say Republicans will get the votes to pass the bill out of the House in the coming weeks.
