PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island are searching for a suspect who they say broke into a house.

WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2oP2th8 ) that the break in happened at a Providence home around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say the male suspect, who was armed with a knife, was able to break in through a back door at the house.

Police say a woman at the house armed herself with a knife after hearing the door open. Investigators say the suspect then got into an altercation with the woman before fleeing the scene.

Police say the victim suffered minor cuts to her arm.

No arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.
