FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Police say they have arrested a man in Northern California who threw three firebombs, including one through an apartment window with two people inside.

Officers in Fairfield told KRON-TV on Friday (https://bit.ly/2psGJcN ) that the man threw another explosive devise near the police department and he also started a car fire.

Authorities say they’ve arrested 39-year-old Michael Scott Jones on suspicion of attempted murder and hate crimes. Nobody was injured.

Investigators say the suspect was a neighbor of the two people targeted in their apartment; they said Jones had used racial epithets toward them and acted erratically.

Officers linked the fires and arrested Jones in a traffic stop without incident.

Jones or an attorney representing him could not be reached to comment on the charges.
