CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada prison officials say a man serving time for grand larceny has died in custody.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says 63-year-old Donald Steven Hawkins died at the Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City Saturday afternoon.

Before he was taken to the hospital, he was being treated at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center, in the Regional Medical Facility.

Hawkins was imprisoned from Washoe County starting in March.

He was serving a sentence of up to five years for grand larceny.

An autopsy will be conducted unless his family declines the service.
