ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Fairbanks police have opened a homicide investigation after discovering a man dead a few blocks east of the downtown business district.

Police shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday took a report of a person in the street at Third Avenue and Hall Street.

Officers found the man was dead.



In an announcement, police say he has not been identified.

Police say they have not received reports of anyone missing.

They did not immediately release a suspected cause of death.
