MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - State, federal and local law enforcement officers across Vermont have arrested 65 people who had outstanding warrants for their arrests for failing to obey court orders.
All the individuals arrested Tuesday had pending felony and misdemeanor criminal charges.
State Police troopers from all 10 field stations were joined in the sweep by local officers, sheriffs’ deputies, game wardens, Department of Motor Vehicles officers and federal agents in making the arrests.
Also, police say one person was arrested in Enosburg for hindering the arrest of a wanted person.
Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Tom Anderson says people who commit crimes and then fail to appear in court undermine the criminal justice system and erode the quality of life in the state.
