WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in Washington have arrested a man they say committed two fatal shootings more than 10 years ago.

The department said in a news release that 31-year old Terik McLeod was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Officers say 17-year-old Devaun Drayton was shot and killed in March 2004. Twenty-three-year-old Carlton Fisher was fatally shot in October 2006.

Acting Police Chief Peter Newsham tells The Washington Post that the first shooting was committed over a dispute with Drayton. He says Fisher witnessed the shooting and was slain two years later.

Newsham says detectives developed a new witness who helped lead them to the suspect.
