RED SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) - A Hoke County woman has been charged with burning a child.
Authorities tell local media outlets that 30-year-old Samantha Cummings was arrested Monday and charged with felony intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
Authorities say First Health Medical Pavilion staffers called Hoke County deputies on March 4 because a child was brought in with second- and third-degree burns that didn’t appear to be an accident.
Officials haven’t detailed the relationship between Cummings and the child or how the child was burned.
Cummings was jailed on $200,000 bond. It wasn’t known if she had an attorney.
