House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said it is “sickening” that President Trump has come to the defense of Bill O’Reilly following news reports that Fox News has paid five women millions to settle sexual harassment allegations leveled against their star commentator.

Mr. Trump told The New York Times this week that Mr. O’Reilly should not have settled and said, “I don’t think Bill would do anything wrong.”

Asked about his comments at her daily briefing on Thursday, Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, said it fits a pattern of being disrespectful toward women that Mr. Trump exhibited during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“Now he is defending some disrespectful behavior on the part of O’Reilly, and it is sickening,” Mrs. Pelosi said.

Other Democrats also have piled on, including Rep. Maxine Waters of California who said on MSNBC this week that Mr. O’Reilly should be arrested.

“Bill O’Reilly needs to go to jail,” she said on MSNBC, adding that Mr. Trump and Mr. O’Reilly are “two of a kind.”

“It’s coming out of the mouth of someone who has said some terrible things about women,” Mrs. Waters said. “Don’t forget he talked about grabbing women in the private parts and because he was important, he could get away with it.”
