MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve identified a body found in a Long Island nature preserve as that of a 19-year-old local man.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/2nfkjhj ) Nassau County police on Wednesday identified the body as Julio Cesar Gonzales-Espantzay of Valley Stream.

A homicide investigation was launched after a man walking his dog in the Massapequa preserve on the afternoon of March 23 found the body in a heavily wooded area near Seaview and Ocean avenues.

Police say Gonzalez-Espantzay had suffered cuts and blunt force trauma to his upper body and head. His death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators say his body may have been in the woods as long as three weeks.
