PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a man fired several shots at officers at a Prescott Valley park before he was struck by a police vehicle.

They say officers didn’t sustain any serious injuries, but the 33-year-old suspect is being treated at a hospital for serious injuries sustained in the incident about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The name of the suspect hasn’t been released, but police say he’s a Prescott Valley resident who is known to authorities.

Police say the shooting occurred as officers were looking for after-dark trespassers at Mountain Valley Park.

A man was spotted and told by officers to stop. Police say he instead fired several rounds at officers, who returned fire.

It’s unclear if the man was wounded before he was struck by the marked police vehicle to end the incident.
