MEDINA, Ohio (AP) - Preliminary autopsy records shed more light on the mysterious death of a local official found in a northeast Ohio lake and indicate he was stabbed repeatedly.

A kayaker found Byron Macron’s body in Chippewa Lake in February, two months after the 45-year-old Lafayette Township trustee was last seen leaving his home near Medina (meh-DY’-nuh). Authorities found his township office in shambles and his SUV parked miles away in a lot near the lake, roughly 30 miles (48 kilometers) southwest of Cleveland.

WKYC-TV (https://on.wkyc.com/2oH5Qe6 ) sued for access to the autopsy results and got it Wednesday. They show Macron was stabbed in the neck, arms and shoulder.

The cause and manner of his death remain under investigation. The autopsy results indicate hypothermia or drowning also might have been factors in his death.
